Whether you’re in agriculture or construction, having reliable, portable fuel transfer pumps for transferring diesel between equipment seems like common sense. Imagine you’re on site when your front-end loader runs out of fuel. You know you have more in your skid steer parked nearby, but no way to complete the fuel transfer. Even with fuel on hand, having no way to transfer turns what could be a brief interruption into a much longer delay. This is especially true if you’re out on the farm and have to travel into town for refuelling. If only you’d had a 12 volt DC fuel transfer pump, then you wouldn’t have to waste all that time.
A 12v DC fuel pump should include some straight forward features. It should be durable, you’re out in the elements, and equipment will take a beating. Transfer pumps are no exceptions. It should have a long steel enforced hose and rugged alligator clamps to hook up to power. It should be portable, naturally, but be able to handle a large flow. Diesel transfer pumps that can only handle 40LPM work ok, but a 12 volt dc fuel transfer pump that can handle 80LPM is ideal. While it’s not an outstanding idea to use it to pump petrol with, most fuel transfer pumps can handle, biodiesel, kerosene, and vegetable oil.
Diesel transfer pumps with other features are a bonus: inline mechanical meters for tracking fuel usage accurately and built-in strainers for keeping unwanted particles out, auto shut nozzles to avoid fuel waste. A self-cooling motor and a trigger lock on the nozzle sound like the perfect 12 volt dc fuel transfer pump.
But having fuel transfer pumps for the job site, or the farm isn’t the only reason to have one. Having diesel transfer pumps for the boat lover or a 4WD enthusiast can come in handy. If you find yourself running out of fuel, having 12v fuel transfer pumps you can hook up to a battery to move fuel between vehicles could mean making it back to civilisation or being forced to hunt your supper for the night.
A Centaurus 12 volt diesel transfer pump is an excellent fit for any job. It’s portable, so it’s easy to move from site to site, but it includes a mounting base making it simple to give it a permanent location. This is useful on farms or enormous construction sites that have a central fuelling location. Like a good deal of diesel transfer pumps, it can handle several viscous fluids other than diesel. Make it ready to go out of the box so you’re pumping fuel and not wasting time with needless setup.
Note: This pump should not be used for petrol, flammable or low flash point liquids! As per all 12V diesel transfer pumps, please use common sense and do not run continuously for greater than 20 minutes. Give the pump a break and allow to cool before redeploying.
